Dental Implants in Mississauga
Dental implants are a long-lasting and versatile method of replacing missing teeth and preserving your jawbone’s structure. Essentially, they act as artificial tooth roots, providing a very strong, stable, and durable base for a false tooth. At Turtle Creek Dental, we are experienced in replacing individual, multiple, and even entire rows or arches of teeth using dental implants.
Are Dental Implants Right for Me?
There are several scenarios in which dental implants are a recommended option for teeth restoration. Dental implants can work well if you need to replace one or more missing teeth and don’t want to affect the adjacent teeth; if you need to restore your ability to chew without pain, improve your speech, or help improve digestion issues; if you need to support a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable; or if you want to restore your confidence in your smile.
About the Procedure
The dental implant is a titanium post that is anchored to the jawbone, requiring a minor, routine procedure that uses local anesthesia. The process of getting implants does require a number of appointments over several months. First, we’ll take x-rays and impressions of the jaw and teeth to determine the bone, gum tissue, and spacing available for an implant. The next step is to surgically place the implant into the bone. It can take several months to integrate into the bone and heal. Secondary surgeries are sometimes required. Lastly, the artificial teeth are custom made and put into position. When the process is complete, you’ll have a stable and comfortable new tooth.
